Bosnia and Herzegovina’s “SSPPDP BiH” Attends PLANFOR Family

The Independent Trade Union of Forestry, Wood Processing and Paper of Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the branch unions with a long-standing tradition.

This Union has more than 115 years long existence. It is a member of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina-   and member of the International Organization of Workers of Builders and Foresters in Geneva (BWI)- .

Since July 2017, this Union is also a member of FSC in Bonn-
The union has approximately 8,000 members. The members of this Trade Union are forestry companies, woodworking and furniture manufacturing factories, and paper and paperboard manufacturing factories. One of the largest members is “Natron-Hayat- ” Maglaj, currently the largest paper and paper production company in the Balkans.

The highest body of the Trade Union is Congress, and the last one was held on 20.10.2017.  Among the two congresses, the highest body is the General Board, which consists of 13 persons. The Chairman of the General Board is the President of the Union.
Starting from 25.10.2013. President of the Union has been Ms. Lejla Ćatić, who was re-elected to this post at the Congress held on 20.10.2017.

Signing ceremony of SSPPDP BiH’s PLANFOR membership will be held in Sarajevo on 5 December 2017. Participation documents will be signed by Mrs Lejla Catic, President of SSPPDP BiH, and Ismail Belen, President of PLANFOR.



Apart from “SSPPDP BiH”, two non-governmental organizations from the “Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina” are members of the PLANFOR family.

These are “the Association of Engineers and Technicians of the FBiH (USIT)” and “Beekeepers Union of Sarajevo Canton”

In addition to these Bosnian NGOs, Mrs. “Benül Topuzoğlu Sözer”, representative of “Oz-Orman İş Trade Union” from Turkey, will attend the signing ceremony. On March 4, 2017, the Agreement on Cooperation between ÖZ ORMAN IŞ Trade Union and SSPPDP BiH was signed.
